Manuel de Faria, Vinho Madeira Velho Meio Doce 1921
Bottled in 1997. Levels: into neck; re-corked in 2010, bin-soiled and creased labels.
Tasting note: Closed nose, a touch ethereal; sweet plums, opening up nicely after half an hour in the glass. Soft, medium rich taste of caramel. Intense powerful, very nice strength, old wood. Pronounced aftertaste of apple syrup with touch of acidity peeking through the sweet fruit. Nice balance and natural concentration from long cask aging. Last tasted April 2014 before lunch at the owner's house, EV.
