Chaplin’s model is the panorama dated 1836 by the Royal Engineer, Philip James Bainbrigge. Bainbrigge’s watercolour of similar size, and also on two joined sheets, is in the Royal Ontario Museum, for which see M. Allodi, Canadian Watercolours and Drawings in the Royal Ontario Museum, I, Toronto, 1974, no.58.
