Comprising a berat of Sultan Abdulmecid, a berat of Sultan Abdulaziz and two berats of Sultan Abdulhamid II, with large lithographed gold tughra at top, inscribed in black diwani script; with official translations into French and various authorizations from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ottoman embassy in Paris and the French Embassy to Constantinople, in large modern folder

The Ottoman orders of the Medjidiye and Osmanye were often awarded to foreign dignitaries and officials. The present collection comprises a third class Osmaniye order given to a French engineer responsible for the water supply of Istanbul, a second class Medjidiye order (Grand Officier) given to a French General, a fifth class Medjidiye order given to a French official from the French Crimean Army and based in Gallipoli, and a fourth class Medjidiye order given to a French Engineer.
