A CARVED SOAPSTONE FIGURE OF DONG FANGSHUO
LATE QING DYNASTY-REPUBLIC PERIOD
The figure is modelled with a long beard, eyes down cast with a smiling expression and wears a scholar's cap. His volumnious loosely draped robe is incised with cloud scrolls. He holds a lingzhi branch over his shoulders. The stone is of warm ivory colour and there are faint traces of pigment.
