August III of Poland was King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania between 1734 and 1763 and simultaneously Elector of Saxony in the Holy Roman Empire between 1733 and 1763. His coronation took place in Kraków in 1734 and one set of damask linens was made for him the following year. He was a notable patron of the arts and influenced by Catherine the Great during the end of his reign as she began to intervene in Polish affairs.
