乾隆皇帝好雅慕古，仿古之風成為乾隆時期宮廷藝術的一大特色。此觚式花插的形製仿摹商或周代的青銅器。北京故宮博物院藏二件與此拍品形製相似的玉花觚，見1995年香港出版《故宮博物院藏文物珍品全集42玉器（下）》，圖版130及131號。
