The teacher Abhayakaragupta is depicted wearing flowing robes and a pandita hat beside a snake. To the top left corner, Vajrayogini is surrounded by flames and draped with a garland of skulls. The siddha Ratnasambhava sits to the top right and Mahalaka Panjarnata is shown to the bottom right, holding a staff.

Lot Essay

The Panchen Lamas are a line of successively re-incarnating teachers in Tibetan Buddhism, closely associated with the Dalai Lamas, and their principal monastic seat is the Monastery of Tashi Lhunpo near Shigatse in Tsang Province, Tibet.
