A THANGKA DEPICTING TSONGKHAPA
18TH CENTURY
Tsongkhapa is seated to the centre in dhyanasana upon a lotus base with his hands in dharmachakra mudra, holding the stems of two lotuses that support a sword and a scripture. There are five seated Buddhas amongst clouds depicted above, holding various mudras and attributes. There are three further deities to the lower register and eight offering goddesses to either side, all surrounded by rocks and flowers.
