Oblong 4° (273 x 308mm). 8 hand-coloured lithographed plates after Bourdet, all cut down and mounted on tan card, plate size 197 x 228mm. (One plate very lightly browned, another with very light stain.) Modern cloth, old leather spine laid down. TWO ATTRACTIVE COLLECTIONS OF HUMOROUS PLATES by Bourdet, who was both a master painter and lithographer. A student of Gros, he exhibited at the Paris Salon annually between 1833 and 1849. But died drunken and penniless in the atelier of a fellow artist.
