Provenance: Volume I a presentation copy from Rudolph Ackermann to Joshua Watson ('Allow me the pleasure of presenting you with my annual Forget me Not', he writes in a tipped in, 2-page letter, dated Strand 29 December 1823) -- purchased from Marshall Field, 6 January 1930.

Ackermannn's fascinating record of fashion in Georgian England ran from 1809 to 1828, and contained his first work of lithography in plates 641, 648 and 654 of volume III, 1817. ‘In the number for April 1817 a plate (number 641) of unusual importance, being one of the first attempts on the part of Ackermann in lithography. The original was a seascape in chalk by S. Prout, and the reproduction is an interesting and typical specimen of early lithography in this country’. Abbey Life 212. Sold as a periodical, not subject to return.
