'A FINE SET IN ALKEN'S BEST STYLE' (Schwerdt). The short preface by ‘Ben Tally Ho’ makes it clear that there are both horses and riders that do not or cannot. 'Even at Melton Mowbray, the Court of Hunting, there are, out of every ten men, three who do not; and out of every ten horses, five that cannot.’ The striking plates, similar to Qualified Horses and Unqualified Riders, had a companion piece in Some will and Some will not (lot 107). FINE COPY. Dixon 36; Mellon/Snellgrove 11; Schwerdt I, p. 22; Siltzer p. 70; Tooley 50.
