Cartouche-shaped, the hinged cover chased with the figure of a soldier and a dog within shells, scrolls and a tree, the base engraved with rocaille, with shell thumb-piece, the cover interior set with a glazed miniature on parchment within a gilt-metal frame, marked on rim
