A GERMAN GILT-BRONZE, BRASS AND EBONY VENEERED STRIKING AUTOMATON FIGURAL TABLE CLOCK
CAROL SCHMIDT, AUGSBURG, CIRCA 1620-30
Modeled as the Madonna and Child, her left arm rising at the strike of the hours, her right hand with pointer to the hour ring above, the base stamped 'EBEN' flanked by an Augsburg pinecone and possible case maker stamp 'DK'; the movement with gut fusee for time and plain fixed barrel for strike, hog's bristle balance, blued steel calibrated countwheel, fish-head hammer to bell in baseplate, signed to the bottom plate 'Carol Schmidt:'
