DATED WUWU CYCLICAL YEAR, CORRESPONDING TO 1918 AND OF THE PERIOD
Of crescent-shaped cross-section, the brush pot is incised in intaglio with a bird perched on a prunus branch, adjacent to a bamboo and another prunus tree, below an inscription stating that on a winter day of the wuwu year (1918), and records that it was Fang Zhuangyou who suggested the subject-matter was to be drawn by Chen Zhuoshi and carved by Wu Zhaozhi.
