A WHITE JADE 'MELON AND BUTTERFLY' PENDANT
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The stone is carved in the round with a lobed melon growing from a gnarled stem bearing broad leaves. On one side of the melon in low relief is a butterfly. The white stone has a soft polish with an area of pale russet on one side.
