QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY
The two-panel top is set within a rectangular frame with notched corners, and is supported on a narrow waist carved with dense cloud scroll. The shaped apron is carved with dragons contesting a flaming pearl amidst further cloud scroll interspersed with bats, and terminating in hoof-form feet.

Compare to a zitan corner leg table of comparable size and decoration with the addition of carved xi characters on the aprons, made for the wedding of the Tongzhi Emperor, and currently in situ in the Eastern Temperate Chamber, Kunning Palace, illustrated in Ming Qing Guting Jiaju Da Guan, vol. I, Beijing, 2006, p. 222, no. 249.
