Lot Essay

As M. Fortin notes (p. 188 in Syria: Land of Civilizations), "producing these vessels was extremely time-consuming; they were ground into a shape with a harder stone fixed to one end of a bow-drill. On the other hand, the result was worth the effort, judging by the sleek surface and elegant forms obtained." For the type see no. 141 in op. cit.
