Original green cloth, publisher's device at center of each cover, orange endpapers, two flyleaves at front and three at end (the slightest wear at ends of spine, rear cover with small area of pale dampstaining); full green morocco slipcase gilt with wave motifs, by R. Paton. Provenance: Maurice Sendak (1828-2012), American author and artist (bookplate); George Cosmatos (his sale Sotheby’s New York, 17 June 2005, lot 85).
