A fine map of Southeast Asia depicting the sphere of influence of the Dutch East India Company, extending from the Philippines to Timor and Sumatra to New Guinea, detailing the Spice Islands. The note “Huc Franciscus Dra. Appulit” at the southern coast of Java, represents Francis Drake's landing during his circumnavigation of the globe in 1577-80. From the Mercator-Hondius Atlas.
