4° (280 x 225mm). Printed in red and black. 6 plates. Original white stapled wrappers printed in red and black (small rust-spots and short tears near the staples, some wear at the corners, faint dampstain on the front wrapper, light soiling).
FIRST EDITION OF 'THE BEST-KNOWN AND MOST SEMINAL AVANT-GARDE ARTIST'S BOOK OF THE ERA' (Mansbach). Lissitzky's tale for children combines Suprematist ideas with Constructivist book design, and sees the red square of modernity triumph over the black square of convention.
