2 volumes, broadsheets (667 x 504mm). Parallel text in English and French. Vol. I: mounted engraved frontispiece and vignettes on titles and on dedication, 46 (of 50) engraved plates. Vol. II: engraved frontispiece, title vignette, and 56 (of 64) plates, 2 plates with folding captions, pl. 44 printed in bistre, pls 23 and 61 mounted. (Vol. I lacking pls 27, 31, 34, 37, pl. 28 with short marginal tear just into image, vol. II lacking pls 16, 24, 41, 47, 49, 59, 60 and 64, pl. 26 with long tear along plate mark but not into image, pl. 42 loose with frayed and dusty edges, variable browning and marginal staining.) Contemporary boards inlaid within green morocco borders and spine, red edges (rubbed and worn). Provenance: Hugh Lupus, 1st Duke of Westminster (1825-1899; bookplate).
