The stone is of dark purplish-brown color, and carved with tall bamboo, pine and prunus trees (the 'Three Friends of Winter'), which are interrupted in the center by the circular grinding surface.
8 ¾ in. (22.2 cm.) long, fitted wood box
Provenance
The K'ung Hsiang-Hsi (Kong Xiangxi, 1881-1967) Collection, New York, and thence by descent within the family.
