[Photograph album]. [Palestine: 1936-1938]. 159 original photographs (the majority 65 x 90mm) on 24 leaves (172 x 265mm), four others loosely inserted. (A couple of missing from their mounts.) Original cloth (rubbed and spotted). Provenance: manuscript captions in biro identifying photographs.

GLIMPSE OF PALESTINE DURING THE 1936-1938 ARAB REVOLT AS DOCUMENTED BY A BRITISH SOLDIER SERVING WITH 1ST MANCHESTER REGIMENT. The images, some of which are harrowing, include: destruction of bombed trains, armoured cars, damage to police vehicles caused by roadside bombs, dead and captured Arab rebels, blowing up of Arab houses, wire fence division between Jews and Arabs, terrorist round-up patrols and memorial photographs of colleagues killed in the line of duty. The album also includes a few images from other postings including Egypt and Jamaica.
