PALESTINE – PALESTINE POLICE FORCE AND THE ARAB REVOLT
Triangle of Terror – Tulkarm, Jenin, Nablus. [Palestine: c.1943.] 2 volumes, 2° (350 x 220mm), comprising: 38pp. of typescript translations into English of Arab terrorist pamphlets and proclamations, 2pp. typescript translations into English of intercepted letters between Arab rebel leaders, 8 typescript 'History Sheets' of Arab leaders, complete with passport-style photograph of each individual, 12 other similar photographs pasted onto a single sheet with manuscript captions, one other photograph in envelope captioned on back in Arabic. (Some minor fraying and nicks to edges, light creasefold to a number of leaves, occasional faint spotting.) One volume within limp card wrappers decorated in ink manuscript, the other in cloth-backed binder (rubbed).
EXTREMELY RARE PALESTINE POLICE FORCE INTELLIGENCE DOCUMENTS ON THE ARAB UPRISING OF 1936-1939 AND FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS INTO THE 1940S. The 'History Sheets' provide colourful biographies of some extremely dangerous men, including one high-level police informer. One of these 'History Sheets' relates to Hamid Zawata, a reward poster for whom was recently sold in these rooms (23 April 2015 lot 170). The officer who compiled these notes served in Jenin, in the so-called 'Triangle of Terror'.
