PALESTINE – ISRAEL’S ENTRY INTO THE GAZA STRIP DURING THE SIX-DAY WAR

Proclamation on behalf of Lieutenant Colonel Chaim Gaon, Commander of the Israel Defence Forces. [N.p.:] 5 June 1967. Large poster (495 x 347mm), text printed in Hebrew and Arabic. (One creasefold, very minor marginal potting, tiny marginal nicks to top right-hand corner.)

VERY RARE POSTER. As part of Israeli’s pre-emptive strike against Egypt in the Sinai, Israeli forces entered Gaza on 5 June 1967, while simultaneously the Israeli air force destroyed the Egyptian air force. The proclamation orders Gaza residents to maintain a curfew outside the hours of 10am-12noon, prohibits the use of cars, prevents public assemblies, and makes the carrying of photographic identification compulsory. WE ARE UNABLE TO TRACE ANY OTHER COPIES AT AUCTION.
