Founded upon the three crucial elements of technical innovation, artistry and culture of fine watchmaking, Richard Mille has become a dominant player of the watch industry.

With the creation of the RM001 tourbillon in 2001, the manufacture stunned the watchmaking sphere through its forward-looking approach towards its designs and use of new materials.

In 2010, the manufacture took innovation a step further by creating for the famed Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal the RM027, the lightest mechanical tourbillon wristwatch. The timepiece was assembled with a movement composed of lithium aluminum alloy and a case made of carbon-based composite enabling the whole watch to weight only 18 grams.

Also bearing the name of Rafael Nadal, the RM035 containes the spirit of the RM027. With a case made of magnesium-aluminum, one of the lightest metal used for construction, the wristwatch is coated with a treatment used in aerospace and the automotive industries, which improves both the hardness and scratch resistance of the alloy used for the case.

With the RM035, Richard Mille proved it is possible to create an ultra-light and highly complex mechanism able to withstand extreme conditions at the highest-level of competition without experiencing any effects on its performance.

Born in 1986 in Mallorca, Spain, Rafael Nadal became a professional tennis player at 15 years old. At age 19, Nadal won the 2005 Roland-Garros open the first time he competed in the tournament, which was to be the first of his nine French Open Singles titles. Nicknamed "The King of Clay", the Spanish player is known for his physical style of play and tenacity. Today, he is one of only two men to have won four majors and Olympic gold.
