A LONGQUAN CELADON 'TWIN FISH' DISH
SOUTHERN SONG DYNASTY (1127-1279)
The dish is decorated to the interior with a pair of scaly fish moulded in high relief swimming in opposite directions. The exterior is moulded with lotus petals radiating upward from the short foot. It is covered in a pale green glaze of slightly olive tone.
5 ¼ in. (13.4 cm.) diam.
