A PAIR OF HUANGHUALI 'SOUTHERN OFFICIAL'S HAT' ARMCHAIRS, NANGUANMAOYI
19TH CENTURY
The shallow stepped top rail is supported on continuous posts which form the rear legs. The gently C-curved splats are of plain rectangular form. The S-shaped arms are supported by curved front posts, above rectangular frames enclosing stretched woven seats. The rounded legs are joined by shaped aprons above stretchers and foot rests.
