Edo period (late 17th century – early 18th century)
The circular dish with wide everted rim on a high foot, decorated in underglaze blue with a large water wheel in waves, surrounded by scattered cherry blossoms in a stream, the reverse with tasselled coin clusters, the ring foot with comb design, with wood box
20.5cm. diam.

According to the above publication of Iro Nabeshima, this design of a water wheel was inspired from a design of Japanese traditional Yuzen textile.
