Of rectangular form with overhanging cover utilising the natural wood grain, decorated with bonsai pine trees and rocks on a tray in takamaki-e [high relief lacquer] and kirikane [cut out pieces of gold leaf], the corners, edges and base in nashiji [sprinkled gold lacquer], the interior of the cover in hiramaki-e [low relief lacquer], takamaki-e, and gold and silver kirikane on a nashiji ground with pine, rocks, grasses and reeds beside a lake, the interior of the box similarly decorated, with a pale gilt suiteki [water dropper], inkstone, fundame [dull gold lacquer ground] rims
