QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
The plaque is part of a jade book, and is carved and gilt-decorated on both sides in running script with an excerpt from a Qianlong imperial poem titled Si shi lun, 'Treatise on Four Poems'. The ‘Treatise on Four Poems’ was composed in the 55th year of the Qianlong reign (1791) to commemorate the Emperor’s eightieth birthday.
