The present bottle carries with it a wish for peace. According to Terese Tse Bartholomew in Hidden Meanings in Chinese Art, Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, 2006, p. 237, the elephant carrying a vase represents the phrase, taiping yunxiang, "when there is peace, there are signs."

Another bottle painted by the artist with animals was sold at Christie's, New York, Imperial Chinese Snuff Bottles from the J & J Collection, Part III, 29 March 2006, lot. 19
