A CELADON AND RUSSET JADE 'MYTHICAL BEAST' WATER POT
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The single-horned beast is depicted with a beard and long neck. Its rounded body forms the receptacle of the water pot, and is carved in high relief with feathered wings to the sides and scrolling tail feathers on the back. The stone is of a pale celadon tone with several areas of russet and milky inclusions.
