A CARVED WOOD FIGURE OF A SEATED BUDDHA
17TH CENTURY
The deity is carved seated in dhyanasana on a lotus base, he has a beautiful face with a serene expression and downcast eyes, the hair is worn in tight curls in a top knot, robes draped loosely about the body and open at the chest. The sculpture has traces of blue pigment, gilt and red lacquered decoration.
