PROVENANCE :
The recipient of this painting, Xuanjing was a business man in Hong Kong. Around 1958, through the connection of his good friend Qian Nanxiang and Qian’s cousin, famous Chinese paintings connoisseur Wang Nanping (1924-1985), he commissioned Zhang Daqian to paint three works for him. Two works were later gifted to his friends and this painting remained in the family and subsequently passed down by descent.
