JIM MORRISON
Handwritten and typescript working lyrics for the poem "The Celebration Of The Lizard," from the band's third album in 1968, Waiting For The Sun; noted for the first appearance of "The Lizard King," Morrison's imaginary gothic poet, with "Celebration" printed inside the record jacket. Excerpts from the poem were used as lyrics for "Not To Touch The Earth", but it would not be until Absolutely Live in 1970 that the complete version would appear. Includes a typescript title page, eighteen typescript verses (several annotated by Morrison in blue ink), and seven handwritten verses. After the typed "WAIT There's been a slaughter here," Morrison writes a cue for sound effect (siren), and Don't stop to speak or look around Your gloves & fan are on the ground We're getting out of town We're going on the run And you're the one I want to come.
