A FINELY CARVED BAMBOO 'LITERARY GATHERING' BRUSH POT
QING DYNASTY, 18TH-19TH CENTURY
The brush pot is carved and pierced in high relief depicting a bustling landscape scene in which scholars and attendants are engaged in various leisurely pursuits, incised on a garden rock face with a Qianlong eighth month of renzi year date (corresponding to 1792), followed by a Keting signature.

Lot Essay
Keting is the pseudonym of Ma Guozheng, a bamboo carver in the Jiading area active during the Qianlong to Jiaqing period.
