Si la riche marqueterie florale mêlée à des arabesques fait référence au travail de Pierre Gole (1620-1684), la forme de la présente commode - avec ses ressauts latéraux en arrondis soulignés par de larges feuilles d’acanthe issues d’une gaine - ainsi que son piètement sont directement inspirés des dessins d’André-Charles Boulle (1642-1732), à l’instar de la commode conservée à la Wallace Collection (inv. F403-4) et illustrée dans P. Hughes, The Wallace Collection. Catalogue of Furniture, Vol. II, pp. 663-668.
