AN EMBELLISHED ZITAN BRUSHPOT
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
Of square section, each side of the brushpot is carved with a frame of archaistic scroll enclosing a lacquered panel inlaid in soapstones of various tones and mother-of-pearl to depict antiques, including a group of a gu-form vase filled with prunus and lingzhi branch, a tripod censer and a yi-form vessel, alternating with a group of li-form censer, a qin and a waterpot.
