Muhammad Kazim was one of the sons of Aqa Najaf 'Ali, naqqash bashi, whose name is recorded in the marriage certificate of his sister now in the Khalili Collection (Nasser D. Khalili, B.W Robinson and Tim Stanley, Lacquer of the Islamic Lands, The Nasser D. Khalili of Islamic Art, Part One, London and New York, 1996, pp.22-29, esp. pp.25-26). His style is clearly close to that of other members of the family. According to Karimzadeh a few of his works are very similar to the work of another famous Qajar painter Muhammad Isma’il. His recorded works which include lacquer, siyah qalam, enamelled and watercolour, are in museums such as the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Crown Jewels and ex-Decorative Art Museum in Tehran (M.A. Karimzadeh Tabrizi, The Lives Art of Old Painters of Iran, Vol. I, London, 1985, pp.1073-7).
