AN OLIVE-BROWN OVERLAY WHITE GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE
YANGZHOU, DATED RENWU (1882)
The bottle is delicately carved through the semi-translucent olive-brown overlay with a continuous scene of birds and flowering branches on the opaque, white ground above rocks carved at the bottom. One side has an archaistic inscription carved in cameo with an auspicious saying about evergreens and longevity.
