A WUCAI 'PEONY AND BUTTERFLY' DISH
JIAJING SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1522-1566)
The dish is decorated to the interior with a central roundel enclosing a blossoming peony branch amongst rocks, butterflies and insects. The reverse is decorated with further flower branches.
7 ¾ in. (19.7 cm.) wide.
