Lot Essay

The present watch is incredibly rare and impressive. The sharp-edged rectangular case is seemingly un-polished and has been worn perhaps only a few times in its life. The platinum hallmark to the case side is very crisp, almost never seen on watches of this age.

Upon inspection of the dial, the crystal is curved from the inside, offering a most unusual aesthetic. Furthermore, the baton numerals are carved delicately into the solid silver dial, offering unusual slash-like markings for the hours.

The watch has a very innovative system of holding the movement. It is a movement holder held into the case by four screws. The platinum case was produced by the legendary Geneva firm Markowsky, who made some of the most dynamic cases for Patek Philippe (indicated by the 8 in the key on the inside of the case back). The bracelet is nice and long as well as can be adjusted. The platinum bracelet is stamped Tiffany & Co. to the clasp.

To the best of our knowledge the present watch has never before been offered in public.
