Lot Essay

Reference 1593 was launched in 1944, and is often considered one of Patek Philippe's most attractive rectangular-shaped designs. The model was produced for over 20 years, mostly in gold, with a few examples cased in platinum.

Large enough for modern tastes, the perfectly proportioned deeply curved flared case and curved crystal serve to enhance the richness of the pink gold case.

The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, pp. 128 & 129 and 141 & 142.
