An attractive set of Arago’s voyages, with a total of 60 hand-coloured plates, including chapters and plates on Australia and the Americas. Cf. Brunet I, p.372; Ferguson 2906 (calling for just 3 frontispieces and 56 plates); Sabin 1866.
4 volumes in 2, octavo (224 x 147mm). Half-titles to each volume, 4 frontispieces, of which 2 hand-coloured, and 58 further hand-coloured plates (some plates browned, heavier in vol. IV, one marginal tear just into text). 19th-century brown morocco, stamped ‘F.C’ in gilt to upper covers within decorative gilt frame. Provenance: bookseller’s label.
