Bastardo wines from the 19th century are extremely rare. The quantities produced of this variety have always been tiny. Two years after this Bastardo was harvested, Phylloxera arrived on Madeira.
Reserved nose of sweet red fruit, ethereal, fresh and subdued. On second nose more perfumed. Refined sweet taste of dried fruits, raisin, with clear tannins on the back. On the finish, a full-on rich berry fruit sensation of fine tannins. Beautiful refinement. All finesse with a red fruit charm. Feminine, seductive and gorgeous fruit.
