Lot Essay

An almost identical commode by Jacob Frères and previously in the collection of Emilio Terry was sold Christie’s, London, 12 December, 2002, lot 88 (£45,410) and sold subsequently Christie’s, London, 10 July, 2008, lot 11 (£145,250). Another very similar example is illustrated G. Wannenes, Mobili di Francia: lOttocento, Milan, 1987, p. 70, fig. 70.
