the hood with cavetto arch and pagoda top, fret-carved cornice, arched glazed panels to the sides, outset brass-capped fluted columns, chequer inlay to the arched trunk door, on block plinth with raised panel, the brass dial with foliate and bagpipe spandrels, engraved minute and calendar dials to the centre, signed Jn. gartly Aberdeen, with strike/silent ring in the arch, the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement, case and dial associated, several losses to veneers -- 89in. (226cm.) high
