Lot Essay

Extremely attractive and unusual, the present timepiece can without a doubt be classified among the rarest and most stunning Patek Philippe creations, its aesthetic appeal fully matching its incredible rarity. Furthermore, the onyx dial beautifully harmonizing with the 18k white gold textured bracelet and diamond-set time display - achieving luminosity and prominence.

The reference 4404 Jewellery Dual-Time was produced from 1976 to 1979 and was not seen in any Patek Philippe catalogue, because of the small production. Produced to approximately 30 pieces, only 8 pieces were identified back into the market.

The 1970s were a time of great cultural fervor: music, the figurative arts, even fashion were all affected by the sociological context. The watchmaking industry is no exception, and it is during this time that some of the most creatively intriguing watches were designed and manufactured - the present watch is a wonderful opportunity to see this trend in action.
