ATTRIBUTED TO FRANCOIS PERRIER, THE DEIFICATION OF AENEAS, OIL ON CANVAS

This painting can be linked to a picture of the same subject, but of a larger format, held in the collection of Mrs. and Mr. Seward Johnson (P. Rosenberg, in La peinture française du XVIIe siècle dans les collections américaines, [exh. cat.], Paris-New York-Chicago, galeries nationales du Grand Palais-Metropolitan Museum of Art-Art Institute of Chicago, 1982, n°82, p. 300 (as 'Perrier')).

Pierre Rosenberg also mentions a smaller, 18th century version of the same subject (27 x 37 cm.) which belongs to a private collection in Paris (P. Rosenberg, 'France in the Golden Age', Metropolitan Museum Journal, 1982, 17 (1982), p. 32).

Rosenberg, in La peinture française du XVIIe siècle dans les collections américaines, [cat. exp.], Paris-New York-Chicago, galeries nationales du Grand Palais-Metropolitan Museum of Art-Art Institute of Chicago, 1982, n°82, p. 300 (comme 'Perrier')).
